Ukrainian Armed Forces Withdraw from Siversk: General Staff Explains Reasons for This Move

Ukrainian defenders have withdrawn from Siversk in Donetsk due to the advantage of Russian occupiers in manpower and equipment. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on the situation, noting that this decision was made to preserve the lives of servicemen and the combat readiness of the units.

Although Ukrainian defense forces continue to strike at the occupiers in Siversk, the city remains under fire control of Ukrainian troops. The General Staff emphasized that

“every meter of the city came at a high cost to the enemy”
, indicating the difficulty of combat operations in this region.

UAF Strategy

The withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from Siversk reflects a strategy aimed at minimizing losses and preserving the combat readiness of units in conditions of enemy superiority. This decision may indicate a changing tactic of Ukrainian forces, which are trying to adapt to the current situation on the front. By leaving the city, the UAF preserves the opportunity for further counterattacks and maintaining positions in the surrounding areas.
