Strikes on Facilities in Ukraine
Ukraine's General Staff confirmed hits on the Saratov Oil Refinery in Saratov, the Lazarevo linear production-dispatching station in Kirov Oblast, and a fuel and lubricants depot in Matveyev Kurgan. Additionally, a command post, drone control centers, and a drone workshop were struck. Previous attacks on fuel storage tanks in Feodosia and a gas storage facility near Yenakiieve were also confirmed. In the port of Berdiansk, a cargo ship carrying ammunition was hit.
On the night of May 31, Ukrainian defense forces struck the Saratov Oil Refinery, part of Rosneft's network. A large fire broke out at the facility. OSINT analysts from CyberBoro documented at least three impacts on the refinery grounds, including hits on the ELOU-AVT-6 unit and two storage tanks. The Saratov refinery has an annual design capacity of roughly 7 million tons of crude oil.
Other Infrastructure Targeted
The Lazarevo linear production-dispatching station in Kirov Oblast, which pumps crude oil through the Surgut–Gorky–Polotsk main pipeline, was also struck. In Matveyev Kurgan, Rostov Oblast, a fuel and lubricants depot was hit. Additional strikes targeted an enemy command observation post in Begoshch, Kursk Oblast, as well as drone control centers near Kalynove in Donetsk Oblast and Grafovka in Belgorod Oblast. A workshop used by occupiers for drone assembly in Donetsk was also damaged.
On May 30, three fuel and lubricant storage tanks near the maritime oil terminal in Feodosia, Crimea, and a gas storage facility close to Yenakiieve in occupied Donetsk Oblast were hit. Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces, Madyar, noted that approximately twenty industrial plants were struck throughout May, with more than half either shut down or forced to halt operations during the month.
Around 12:20 AM, a strike drone hit a cargo ship carrying ammunition near Pier 3 in the port of Berdiansk. The operation was carried out by Ukraine's Security Service in coordination with the 412th Nemesis Brigade. Ukraine's General Staff emphasized that
“Ukraine's defense forces will continue to systematically take measures to weaken the military-economic potential of the Russian occupiers and compel Russia to cease its armed aggression against Ukraine.”As Madyar stated,
“Every barrel of black sludge is converted into Shaheds, Kalibrs, and Iskanders, and it flies, flies, flies.”
These strikes are primarily aimed at reducing Russia's logistical capabilities and weakening its military infrastructure, which could influence the conflict's trajectory. The successful operations by Ukraine's defense forces demonstrate their strategic readiness for a prolonged struggle and their efforts to deplete the enemy's resource base. Moving forward, such actions may prove critical for ensuring security and stability in the region.
As the situation escalates, Ukraine's military strategy continues to focus on crippling Russian supply lines. In a recent operation, the targeted strike on a key oil terminal and a tanker in the Black Sea underscores the ongoing efforts to disrupt maritime logistics.
