Ukrainian Forces Strike Key Russian Missile Test Site at Kapustin Yar

Українські сили влучно атакують стратегічний об'єкт для випробувань ракет у Капустиному Яру.

Attacks on Occupied Territories

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) has confirmed strikes on targets within occupied territories and deep inside the Russian Federation. These operations are part of a broader effort to degrade Russian logistics and command. In the early hours of February 8, Ukrainian forces hit a Russian military logistics and supply depot located near the temporarily occupied town of Rozivka in Zaporizhzhia Oblast. Additionally, near the settlement of Krasnohirske in the same region, Ukrainian defenders targeted and struck an area where enemy personnel were concentrated.

Damage to the Kapustin Yar Facility

The strategic Kapustin Yar testing range, situated in Russia's Astrakhan region, sustained significant damage. Ukrainian intelligence has verified the destruction of several key facilities, including:

  • A technical service structure for medium-range ballistic missiles
  • An assembly building
  • A logistics and supply warehouse

It is known that throughout January, the AFU targeted this range using Flamingo FP-5 cruise missiles supplied by the company Fire Point. Kapustin Yar is a historically significant site for Russian missile and space programs, making it a high-value target. The confirmed damage from these earlier strikes on the Russian Defense Ministry's State Central Inter-Service Test Range includes the service structure, assembly building, and supply warehouse. These attacks demonstrate Ukraine's active military response to Russian aggression and its capacity to strike far behind the front lines.

The strikes on occupied territories and strategic Russian assets highlight an escalation in the conflict and an intensification of Ukrainian military operations. This shift in tactics appears aimed at degrading the enemy's military potential deep within its own territory. Such proactive measures by Ukrainian forces could prove crucial for the evolving situation on the front and may force a reassessment of Russian military strategy in the region.
