Ukrainian Military Reports Strikes on Russian Forces
The Ukrainian military has reported a series of successful strikes against Russian occupation forces in the Donetsk region and Crimea, inflicting significant enemy losses. One notable strike targeted a five-story residential building in Zuhres, situated between the Zuhres-2 district and a dormitory of the ShchebZavod vocational school. According to available information, this single strike resulted in the deaths of approximately 100 or more Russian soldiers.
Vitaliy Ovcharenko stated: 'A couple of days ago in Zuhres, our missiles destroyed a five-story building where Russian soldiers were quartered. The structure, along with the Russians inside, was completely leveled. Adjacent buildings also sustained heavy damage.'
On February 25, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) confirmed strikes on enemy troop concentrations near Zuhres, highlighting ongoing Ukrainian military activity in the area. In a separate operation, Ukrainian Special Operations Forces also conducted a nighttime raid in temporarily occupied Crimea.
AFU Operations Across the Front
In the early hours of February 24, 2026, Ukrainian missile and artillery units struck an auxiliary command post of the Russian 5th Army in the Novopetrykivka area of Donetsk region. These coordinated actions demonstrate the AFU's sustained campaign to degrade Russian command infrastructure and combat capabilities. The strikes in Zuhres and Novopetrykivka underscore a deliberate Ukrainian strategy to target key enemy assets and troop concentrations.
The reported strikes indicate an intensification of Ukrainian operations against Russian military formations, which could impact the overall frontline situation. These events represent significant tactical successes for Ukraine as it works to disrupt Russian logistics and morale. Such targeted operations are a key component of Ukraine's defense against the ongoing invasion, now in its fourth year.
