Liberation of Andriivka
The Armed Forces of Ukraine liberated the village of Andriivka in the Sumy region as a result of a counteroffensive that took place in June 2025. This was an important event on the front, considering that earlier Russian troops had occupied this village as well as the village of Novomarkove in Donetsk region.
The General Staff confirmed the information about the liberation of Andriivka, which marked a significant step in the fight to restore control over Ukrainian territory. Despite these successes, by the end of 2025, Russian troops occupied 4,336 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory. The occupied territories constitute about 0.72% of Ukraine's total area.
Impact of the liberation on the conflict
The liberation of Andriivka highlights the continuation of active military operations in eastern Ukraine and attempts by Ukrainian forces to regain control over territories that were occupied. It may also affect the further dynamics of the conflict, considering the importance of geostrategic positions in the region.
At the same time, despite the achieved successes, numerous territories remain under the control of Russian forces, indicating the duration and complexity of the conflict.
