Victoria Roschina posthumously awarded the Order of Freedom: details of the tragedy in Russian captivity

Ukrainian journalist, human rights activist, and military correspondent Victoria Roschina, who died in Russian captivity, was awarded the Order of Freedom. Information about this appeared on the website of the President's Office, reports 'Glaicom'.




President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky awarded Victoria Roschina for her civic courage, patriotism, and selfless defense of the sovereignty and independence of the Ukrainian state, as well as the constitutional rights and freedoms of the individual.




The journalist's death and further details


Earlier, deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine supported an appeal for the posthumous award of journalist Victoria Roschina the title of Hero of Ukraine. 247 people's deputies voted for this decision.


The death of Victoria Roschina became known in October 2024 when her body was returned from captivity in Russia at the end of February. During the examination, signs of abuse and torture were found on the journalist.



Correspondent Victoria Roschina was posthumously awarded the Order of Freedom for her significant contribution to civil society and the struggle for a free and independent future of Ukraine. Her death in captivity left a painful mark in the hearts of Ukrainians who honor the memory of the fallen journalist as a true hero.
