G7 Foreign Ministers Convene

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha participated in a G7 Foreign Ministers' meeting, hosted under the French presidency. During the event, he held bilateral talks with France's Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Jean-Noël Barrot. Discussions centered on the battlefield situation, defense support for Ukraine, and the country's path toward European Union membership.

Andrii Sybiha emphasized that Ukraine's combat experience is a strategic asset.

"We are developing cost-effective technologies and are capable of intercepting up to 90% of aerial threats,"
he noted. The minister also highlighted that Russia continues to suffer significant losses and is increasingly resorting to recruiting foreigners, particularly from African nations.
"We must intensify our efforts to counter this,"
Sybiha added.

Focus on Sanctions and European Integration

The talks also focused on concrete steps toward Ukraine's EU accession and on ramping up sanctions pressure against Russia.

"We concentrated on further restrictions on maritime shipments and strengthening measures against the 'shadow fleet,' as well as advancing the EU's 20th sanctions package,"
he stressed. The Ukrainian Foreign Minister noted that much work lies ahead, but Ukraine remains united in pursuing a lasting peace. A photo from the event was provided by France's Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.

The G7 Foreign Ministers' meeting represents a key moment in international diplomacy, underscoring Western partners' support for Ukraine amid the ongoing conflict with Russia. These high-level discussions are part of a sustained international effort to address the war's consequences. The focus on defense aid and European integration highlights Ukraine's drive to bolster its international standing, as well as the G7's readiness to increase sanctions pressure on the aggressor. These steps could significantly influence future developments in the region and global security.

In addition to discussions on sanctions and EU membership, Ukraine is also actively pursuing other international partnerships. Recently, the country has expressed interest in obtaining OECD candidate status, which could further enhance its economic ties and integration into global frameworks. This move reflects Ukraine's broader strategy to strengthen its international standing while navigating the complexities of the ongoing conflict.
