Yarmolenko Steps Away from European Tournaments

According to Главком: Andriy Yarmolenko, the winger for Dynamo Kyiv and the Ukrainian national team, will not participate in European competitions during the 2026/27 season. According to journalist Ihor Burbas, Yarmolenko has concluded his involvement in European play and is now training under a personalized regimen focused solely on domestic league matches. His contract with the Kyiv club runs until June 2027.

Stats and Upcoming Fixtures

Last season, the 36-year-old player appeared in 35 matches, scoring 12 goals and providing one assist. Yarmolenko will not feature in the Europa League qualifiers, where Dynamo will begin their campaign from the first qualifying round. If they win the opening match, their opponent in the second round will be Greece's PAOK. In the first round, Dynamo will face Romania's Universitatea Cluj.

Additionally, Dynamo will play their home games at Arena Lublin in Poland. During the 2024/25 season, the team already hosted Partizan, Rangers, and RB Salzburg at this venue. In the 2025/26 season, Dynamo faced Ħamrun Spartans, Pafos, and Maccabi Tel Aviv there.

'Don't expect Yarmolenko at the training camp. He's done, let's be honest, at least with European competitions and his international career. Based on my information, he has his own individual program and is not preparing for European matches,' the insider stated.

Yarmolenko's absence from European competitions means Dynamo has lost an experienced player who was previously a key part of the team in international tournaments. This could also impact the squad's preparation for the Europa League qualifiers, as Yarmolenko was one of the pivotal footballers. Nevertheless, focusing on domestic competitions may allow him to leverage his experience in the Ukrainian championship, where Dynamo aims for success. These developments could prove significant for the club's future, especially regarding its performance in international events.

As Dynamo Kyiv prepares for the upcoming season without Yarmolenko, the impact of player injuries cannot be overlooked. Recently, another key player, Mykhailenko, faced a similar setback due to knee surgery, sidelining him for crucial matches. This situation highlights the challenges the team must navigate as they aim for success in domestic competitions.
