Ukraine's Olympic Hopes Soar with Angelina Brikina's 90.58-Point Jump
Angelina Brikina's Performance at the 2026 Olympic Games
According to НОК: Freestyle skier Angelina Brikina delivered the top score for Team Ukraine in the mixed team aerials final at the 2026 Olympic Games. She executed a Back full–full–full jump, earning a score of 90.58 points, which secured her a provisional second-place standing after the first round of competition. Aerials is a high-risk discipline where athletes launch off massive jumps, performing complex twists and flips before landing.
Angelina Brikina was the sole Ukrainian athlete to successfully land her jump in the team event. This marks her first Olympic appearance, and she is the oldest female member of the team. After her performance, Brikina shared her reflections:
'These are my first Olympics, and my expectations were a bit different, better. But we have what we have. After the individual competition, my coach and I analyzed all my mistakes, and today I tried to execute everything he said. Perhaps it didn't go exactly as I wanted, but I managed to land.' Angelina also expressed dissatisfaction with her jump's execution. 'I was upset that I couldn't perform the jump flawlessly. During the execution, I bent, which caused the judges to immediately deduct points for form-that accounts for 50% of the score. Thanks to a high degree of difficulty, I got 90 points and a bit, which isn't bad. When all the girls had finished their jumps, I was in second, and our team was also in second. The weather today wasn't the best, competitors were falling, but I managed to stay on my feet. However, I was more upset about not being able to do the jump perfectly, because you can get up to 120 points if you jump well,' she added.
Responsibility and Team Spirit
In closing, Brikina emphasized her sense of responsibility as the senior member of the women's team: 'I don't count on anyone to back me up-I always try to work productively and persistently. I strive to be a role model. I've always wanted my result to be precisely my own result, not one where I 'rode' on someone else's coattails.'
The National Olympic Committee of Ukraine published the full interview with Angelina Brikina on its official website.
