According to Главком: The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center is forecasting unstable weather in the lead-up to Easter, including a significant cold snap, fog, and overnight frosts. A sharp temperature drop is expected from April 8 to 12. Ivan Semylyt, Deputy Head of the Media Communications Department at the Center, stated that overnight air temperatures will range from 0 to -3 degrees Celsius, while daytime highs will only reach +1 to +8 degrees.

In contrast, Palm Sunday on April 5 will see somewhat milder conditions: overnight lows of +1 to +6 degrees and daytime highs from +11 to +16 degrees. In the coming days leading up to April 5, nighttime temperatures will fluctuate between 5 and 10 degrees above zero, with daytime highs reaching up to +18 degrees.

Kyiv's Record-Warm March

March 2025 was exceptionally warm in Kyiv, with an average monthly temperature of 6.7°C, which is 4.2°C above the climatic norm. This March ranks as the fourth warmest on record in the capital's history. This dramatic shift from record warmth to a late-season freeze is a notable weather pattern. Consequently, Kyiv residents should prepare for a sudden and significant change in weather conditions in the coming days.

These significant temperature swings may impact traditional Easter celebrations and agricultural activities. Given the unstable conditions, it is important to heed meteorologists' advice to avoid potential negative effects from the cold and frost.
