Higher Anti-Corruption Court Upholds Seizure of Former Official’s Family Assets Worth 2 Million Hryvnias
Seizure of Illegitimate Assets Confirmed
According to САП: On November 5, 2026, the Appeals Chamber of the Higher Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) affirmed the confiscation of nearly 2 million hryvnias in unjustified assets linked to the family of Serhiy Korak, former head of the District Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center in Odesa Oblast. This ruling, unchanged since April 3, 2026, took legal effect immediately upon announcement.
Assets Deemed Unjustified
Backing the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO), the Appeals Chamber declared the Korak family’s assets illegitimate. Among the seized possessions were two vehicles:
- A 2022 Toyota C-HR HYBRID valued at 1,381,630 hryvnias
- A 2021 Toyota C-HR valued at 564,789 hryvnias
These cars were purchased by close relatives of the official, with evidence indicating that Serhiy Korak had direct or indirect control over them.
Investigations revealed that neither Korak nor his family had the financial means to acquire these assets legitimately. The case was initiated based on materials from the State Bureau of Investigation and corroborated by SAPO prosecutors.
This verdict marks a significant advancement in Ukraine’s ongoing fight against corruption. It underscores the government’s commitment to reclaiming assets obtained through illicit channels, sending a clear message that public officials and their families cannot exploit their positions for personal enrichment. Such rulings reinforce the importance of upholding ethical conduct and legal standards among state employees, helping to restore public trust in governance.
