Odesa Region Targeted in Overnight Drone Attack
According to Главком: An overnight drone assault on the Odesa region on February 23 resulted in the deaths of two people and left at least three others wounded. The attack inflicted damage on a range of targets, including industrial sites, energy facilities, civilian infrastructure, and residential buildings. Notably, one drone struck an apartment in a multi-story building but failed to detonate. These strikes are part of a concerning pattern of attacks on Ukraine's vital Black Sea coast.
The following sustained damage:
- Production and warehouse facilities;
- Administrative buildings;
- An auto parts store;
- Various vehicles.
Fires ignited by the strikes were extinguished. Emergency crews, utility workers, and law enforcement personnel were on the scene, working to document the aftermath and secure the area.
Recent Attacks in the Region
This incident follows other recent drone attacks in the area. On the night of February 21, a mass drone raid targeted the Odesa district, injuring two people and striking residential areas, an educational institution, and energy infrastructure. Previously, on February 13, a drone attack on a port in the Odesa region killed one person, injured six others, and damaged port enterprise infrastructure and vehicles.
As noted by Oleg Kiper, the attack caused significant damage, and psychologists from the State Emergency Service provided assistance to residents affected by the events.
The recent series of drone strikes on the Odesa region points to an escalation of violence, raising alarm among local residents and authorities. The frequent attacks, which harm both critical infrastructure and homes, underscore the severe security challenges facing Ukraine. Emergency services continue their efforts to mitigate the consequences of the attacks, providing aid to victims and working to ensure public safety.
