Strike Targets Civilian Infrastructure

According to Главком: A woman was killed after Russian forces used drones to attack civilian transport infrastructure in Ukraine's Zhytomyr region. Vitaliy Bunechko, head of the Zhytomyr Regional Military Administration, reported that the enemy carried out another treacherous drone strike on civilian transport facilities. At this time, authorities have confirmed one female fatality as a result of the attack.

Emergency crews, repair teams, and law enforcement are currently working at the site in Zhytomyr region. In a separate incident overnight on April 22, a Russian drone also struck a marshalling yard at the Zaporizhzhia-Live station. A train with an electric locomotive was on the tracks at the moment of impact, killing an assistant driver and hospitalizing the train's main operator.

Broader Situation Across Ukraine

Just a few nights earlier, on April 20, Russian forces attacked railway infrastructure in the Kharkiv region, though no casualties were reported. In the Dnipropetrovsk region, a monitoring center for airborne threats and locomotive crews from Ukrainian Railways managed to prevent a strike on a commuter train carrying approximately 500 passengers.

These attacks highlight the dangerous reality in Ukraine, where civilian infrastructure is increasingly being targeted in military operations. The growing number of strikes on railway transport and other critical facilities poses serious risks to public safety and mobility, while placing additional strain on rescue services and law enforcement. This situation underscores the urgent need for the international community to focus on protecting civilian assets and populations amid the ongoing conflict.

These recent attacks are part of a worrying trend, as evidenced by the strikes that recently occurred in the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions, resulting in casualties and significant damage. Such incidents highlight the escalating risks to civilian life and infrastructure across Ukraine.
