Power Infrastructure Attacks Leave Russian Regions of Bryansk and Belgorod in Darkness

Attacks on energy facilities: Bryansk and Belgorod regions
Атаки на енергетичну інфраструктуру залишили мешканців Брянської та Бєлгородської областей без електропостачання.

Strikes on Energy Infrastructure

According to Главком: Significant power outages have occurred in Russia's Bryansk and Belgorod regions following attacks on their energy infrastructure. Regional authorities have confirmed the strikes have severely impacted the local power grid. These border regions have been frequent targets since the onset of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Consequences of the Attacks

In Bryansk Oblast, a drone attack specifically caused a power failure. The strike hit the Novobryansk 750 kV electrical substation, triggering serious electrical supply problems.

In Belgorod, a local thermal power plant (CHPP) came under fire. Belgorod authorities announced the need to evacuate certain groups of the population to other regions of Russia, including the temporarily occupied Crimea. This evacuation was prompted by the critical situation with heating, water, and electricity supply caused by the attacks on energy facilities.

These events highlight the vulnerability of energy infrastructure in regions bordering the conflict zone and their dependence on security. Attacks on critically important facilities can lead to serious humanitarian consequences and exacerbate an already difficult situation in the country. Russian authorities are forced to take urgent measures to ensure the stability of energy systems and the safety of the population.
