According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this person was born in 1971 on the territory of our Homeland. No further details about their identity are provided.
The head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, Andrii Sybiha, instructed the Ukrainian consulate in Portugal to provide necessary assistance to the relatives of the deceased. 'Our diplomats have informed the relatives of the victim and express their condolences,' the agency's statement says.
Investigation and consequences of the accident
Let us remind you that on Wednesday, September 3, the Gloria funicular in Lisbon went off the rails and crashed into a building at a dangerous turn, resulting in 17 people dying and 21 others injured. After this incident, a three-day mourning period was announced in Lisbon. Among the injured are residents of Portugal, Germany, Spain, South Korea, Cape Verde, Canada, Italy, France, Switzerland, and Morocco.
An investigation into the causes of the accident in Portugal is currently underway. The Lisbon government has suspended the operation of other funiculars Bica and Lavra, as well as Graça, for technical inspections.
