Emergency substation outages plunge parts of Brovary into darkness
Power supply situation in Brovary
According to Главком: A sudden shutdown of two substations has left a section of the city of Brovary without electricity. Technicians from the energy company DTEK are already on site working to repair the damage. Power is expected to be restored between 5:30 PM and 6:00 PM local time.
Planned power outage schedules
On Tuesday, June 30, hourly rolling blackouts will be in effect across Kyiv and the surrounding region. These restrictions are driven by weather conditions, specifically the extreme heatwave that has been sweeping across Ukraine in recent days.
The abnormal heat is severely straining Ukraine's power grid. I urge everyone to keep their power banks and devices charged.
Serhiy Kovalenko, CEO of Yasno
Brovary Mayor Ihor Sapozhko has called on residents to remain calm and factor this information into their daily planning. In the coming days, the power network will operate under maximum stress due to increased air conditioner usage and scheduled maintenance work.
This situation highlights the broader challenges facing Ukraine's energy infrastructure during extreme weather events. The intense heatwave is driving up electricity consumption, which in turn places additional strain on utility companies. As a result, Ukrainians are advised to prepare for potential service interruptions and organize their activities around the published outage schedules.
The ongoing power supply challenges are not limited to Brovary; similar measures are being implemented in other regions as well. For instance, scheduled power outages are set to affect Zaporizhzhia and Prykarpattia on the same day. This situation underscores the widespread impact of the extreme weather on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, making it essential for residents to stay informed and prepared.
