Gas Stations in Kyiv Region to Access Advanced Airspace Monitoring System

Announced by Timur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, this initiative aims to enhance the operational response of gas stations during aerial threats. With this system, station staff will monitor hostile airborne targets in real time, enabling quicker and more precise reactions to potential dangers.

Recent weeks have seen multiple Russian drone strikes targeting gas stations in Kyiv. On the night of September 15, an attack left one man seriously injured. Incidents were reported in the Darnytskyi district, where a gas station was hit, and in the Obolonskyi district, where warehouse facilities sustained damage. Later that same morning, another drone assault on Kyiv resulted in six casualties, including two critically injured. These strikes affected gas stations in both the Darnytskyi and Holosiivskyi districts.

Impact of Recent Drone Strikes on Kyiv’s Fuel Infrastructure

The last recorded drone attack on Kyiv’s gas stations before these incidents occurred on September 11 in the Dniprovskiy and Obolonskyi districts, where one station was hit twice. This attack caused two fatalities and left nine others wounded. To date, 16 fueling stations in Kyiv have suffered damages from Russian drone attacks. Despite these challenges, the city's fuel supply remains stable, with no interruptions anticipated.

Timur Tkachenko emphasized the importance of this new system, stating: "Gas stations will no longer have to rely solely on general air raid alerts. They will receive detailed information about specific threats, allowing them to respond promptly to protect both employees and customers on site."

The introduction of this airspace awareness technology at fueling stations responds directly to the escalating threat posed by Russian drone attacks, which have resulted in substantial casualties and property damage. Implementing these advanced tools will reduce risks for workers and patrons alike and ensure more efficient management of gas stations during emergencies.
