Ukrainians restricted transfers to 100 thousand: what the financial sector is preparing for in 2026
Restrictions apply to all types of transfers - P2P and IBAN payments. This applies to transfers in any currency both within the country and abroad. Exceptions include transfers between one's own accounts in the same bank. To increase the limit, income must be documented. Tax monitoring has also tightened, paying attention to suspicious operations.
Starting from June 1, 2025, new restrictions on card transfers are in effect in Ukraine - the maximum transfer amount is 100 thousand hryvnias per month for clients of medium and low-risk levels. For high-risk clients, the limit is 50 thousand hryvnias. At the same time, banks are preparing a technological breakthrough that could change payment systems as early as next year.
What is being prepared for 2026
The Diia app will feature EUDI Wallet - a European digital wallet - by the end of 2025. The government plans that by the end of 2026, half of the population and businesses will use this service. Developers are also launching alternative payment instruments such as crypto cards, which allow payments in cryptocurrency through terminals.

Experts believe that the current restrictions are a temporary measure related to the state of war. After the situation stabilizes, a review of limits and their increase can be expected. In the future, greater flexibility in setting limits for different client categories is anticipated.
By the end of 2026, Ukrainian banks may change their face with virtual cards, legalize cryptocurrencies, and introduce new payment solutions. But for now, Ukrainians have to adapt to strict restrictions and wait for technological innovations.
