Prince Laurent acknowledges his illegitimate son: details of the scandal with the singer
Prince Laurent announced the acknowledgment of his illegitimate son
Belgian Prince Laurent has acknowledged his illegitimate son, who was born as a result of a romance with popular 80s singer Wendy Van Wanten. This was reported by 'Glavkom' citing the Daily Mail.
The 61-year-old Prince Laurent, younger brother of King Philippe of Belgium, made an official statement confirming his paternity regarding 25-year-old Clement Vandenkerkhove.
Clement was born in 2000 - the same year Prince Laurent met his future wife, British Claire Coombs.
Clement's mother, Wendy Van Wanten, a well-known host of the erotic TV show De Pin Up Club and singer, has never publicly confirmed her relationship with the prince, although the couple appeared publicly in the late 1990s.
Succession line unaffected
Prince Laurent and Princess Claire have been married for 22 years. They have three children. The announcement will not affect the line of succession. The situation recalls events from five years ago when Laurent's father, King Albert II, publicly acknowledged his illegitimate daughter, Princess Delfine.
It should be noted that Prince Harry, along with staff from his charity Invictus Games Foundation, visited Kyiv. The Duke of Sussex, who will turn 41 in a few days (September 15), received a symbolic gift - a branded train cup. Millions of 'Ukrzaliznytsia' passengers drink hot beverages from similar cups.
Belgian Prince Laurent confirmed his paternity regarding his illegitimate son, who was born from a romance with a popular singer. This will not affect the line of succession, as the prince and his wife have three children of their own.
