“And as usual, the Russians struck ordinary residential buildings,” Zelenskyy remarked. “Only one ballistic missile was intercepted tonight simply because there are no missiles for the Patriots. This shortage of anti-ballistic interceptors only encourages Russia to strike at civilian life.”

Zelenskyy also emphasized the need for immediate assistance from international partners: “It is crucial that partners hear that these systems are not needed somewhere in warehouses for hypothetical scenarios, but here and now, to contain and stop Russia’s war in Ukraine. Every anti-ballistic package saves lives. Every night without it leads to casualties. I thank everyone working to strengthen our defense.”

The assault caused severe damage, including across five districts of Kyiv, and demonstrated the continuing danger Russian attacks pose to the civilian population.
