Ultimatum from the White House to Ukraine

The White House has issued an ultimatum to Ukraine, demanding the signing of a new peace plan by November 28, which is Thanksgiving Day in the USA. This plan contains 28 points developed by Steve Witkoff and Kirill Dmitriev. Ukraine is required to make significant concessions, including:

  • recognition of the Russian language as an official state language;
  • renunciation of NATO membership.

If Ukraine does not agree to this plan, there is a threat of losing support from the USA.

Details of the Peace Plan

The document was made public on November 20 and contains details that include, among other things, reducing the number of the Ukrainian Armed Forces from 800-850 thousand to 600 thousand military personnel. Among the requirements is also stated:

  • enshrinement in the Constitution of the renunciation of NATO membership;
  • reduction of the army;
  • granting official status to the Russian Orthodox Church;
  • withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the Donetsk region;
  • 'de facto recognition' of Russia's control over Crimea, Luhansk, and Donetsk.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has already expressed a desire to make changes to the document on Thursday. However, according to experts,

“Ukraine is under 'extreme pressure' to agree to the deal by Thanksgiving.”

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, in turn, stated that Moscow has not received any new peace proposals. He also noted that

“Russia remains committed to the discussions that took place in Anchorage.”

Thus, the situation surrounding the peace process remains tense, and Ukraine needs to urgently make decisions regarding its further actions in response to the ultimatum from the White House. This development indicates increasing pressure from international players on Kyiv and possible consequences for the internal political situation in Ukraine. In the context of a complex geopolitical situation, it is important for the Ukrainian authorities to weigh all options and risks before making a decision that could significantly impact the country's future.
