Regional Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov confirmed significant damage to a key infrastructure facility. Emergency crews are currently assessing the damaged equipment, with the immediate priority being the restoration of heating and water supplies to residents' homes. These attacks on energy and utility networks are a recurring feature of the ongoing conflict.

Additionally, the region is experiencing major communication failures, particularly in the MegaFon mobile network. In response, social service facilities and critical infrastructure sites are being switched to backup generators. The mass reliance on autonomous power sources has led to long queues at city gas stations, severely complicating fuel supply for the population.

Catastrophic Conditions in Engels

The city of Engels, located in the Saratov region, is also facing catastrophic conditions, including failures in heating and water supply. On the night of January 26, units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck infrastructure at the 'Sloviansk Eco' oil refinery, which has an annual processing capacity of over 4 million tons of oil. Governor Gladkov stated that a detailed schedule for repair work will not be made public to prevent follow-up strikes.
