Kyrylo Budanov speaks on the conditions for Ukrainians' return

According to Главком: Speaking at the Unity Forum, the head of the Office of the President, Kyrylo Budanov, laid out the key prerequisites for bringing Ukrainians back from abroad, focusing on security and economic growth. He stressed that the state must secure a dignified future for soldiers returning from the front lines. The forum served as a platform to address pressing issues of national identity and Ukraine's path forward amid the full-scale war.

'To bring people home, you need security and an economy. To keep those coming back from the front, you need respect and real action,' Budanov stated.

He also highlighted the need to create proper conditions for the repatriation of Ukrainians, calling this essential for strengthening society. 'Veterans have already answered for themselves what the state means-by risking their lives. Now it is the state's turn to secure their future. Unity either exists, or it does not,' he added.

European Commission proposals

Separately, the European Commission has proposed extending temporary protection for Ukrainians until March 4, 2028. However, under the new rules, this protection will not apply to newly arriving Ukrainian citizens who are prohibited from leaving the country due to military obligations. Budanov also underscored that unity is the foundation and guarantee of the state's survival:

'Unity is the foundation and guarantee of the state's survival. Today there is much debate about what unites us and what divides us. But in reality, the choice is simple: either we are a single whole, or we simply do not exist.' - Kyrylo Budanov

Budanov's remarks and the European Commission's proposals highlight the pressing challenges Ukraine faces during the war and the urgent need to support veterans. The state's efforts to ensure security and economic development are critical for encouraging Ukrainians temporarily abroad to return, as well as for supporting those already coming home from the front. This also underscores the importance of societal unity as the bedrock for the country's recovery and future growth.

As Budanov emphasizes the need for a unified approach to ensure the return of Ukrainians, it is crucial to recognize that the future of Ukraine hinges on the commitment of its citizens. This sentiment is echoed in another recent discussion where Budanov insists that the nation's destiny is firmly in the hands of its people.
