Budanov assessed whether the Russian Federation can launch 500 'Shaheds' a day
The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, denied the possibility of Russia using a large number of strike kamikaze drones daily. However, he stated that the Russian army is indeed capable of periodically launching up to 500 strike drones simultaneously.
According to Budanov, the enemy technically cannot use 400-500 kamikaze drones of the 'Shahed' type daily. He explained that such scale of attacks can only be episodic, not regular. Meanwhile, the Russian military regularly optimizes and improves its strike drones, including installing CRP antennas, which complicates the detection of drones by air defense systems.
This technical modernization aims to increase the efficiency of attacks and reduce the capabilities of the Ukrainian air defense in intercepting enemy drones.
The Russian military is also switching to a six-channel operating mode for drones, which allows multiple control or communication channels to be used simultaneously. This is aimed at increasing the efficiency of attacks and reducing the capabilities of the Ukrainian air defense in intercepting enemy drones.
It has been noted that although the Russian army may not use kamikaze drones daily in large quantities, their technical modernization and the transition to a six-channel operating mode pose a threat to Ukrainian air defense and require increased attention and readiness.
