Lieutenant General Budanov on the impossibility of the 'Georgian scenario' in Ukraine
The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, Lieutenant General Kyrylo Budanov, stated that an internal 'Georgian scenario' is impossible in Ukraine. In response to a question about the likelihood of this scenario in Ukraine, he said: 'At the moment - no. Definitely no. It is impossible.'
Lieutenant General emphasized that events in society indicate that such a situation is impossible. At the same time, he stressed the importance for Ukrainians to independently formulate their strategic goal, otherwise it may be imposed from outside.
'We must clearly define for ourselves: if we do not do this - it will be imposed on us. So it's better to formulate our own strategic goal: who we are, where we are going.'
Budanov noted that examples of other countries that have ceased to exist in the last 150 years show the necessity of a serious approach to addressing internal and external challenges.
Participation in the briefing for the U.S. representative
Earlier, Budanov participated in a briefing for the special representative of the U.S. president, Kit Kellogg, where some plans of the Russian Federation were revealed. The intelligence officer emphasized the importance of protecting the country and assisting the army for all citizens of Ukraine.
'Anyone who does not want to defend Ukraine cannot be considered a citizen in any way, and society should perceive them exactly as harshly as it may sound.'
During his speech, Lieutenant General Budanov emphasized the importance of Ukraine formulating its own strategic goal, which is a guarantee of protecting the country from external influences and internal threats. At the same time, he stressed the necessity of supporting the army to ensure the security of all citizens of Ukraine.
