World Karate Championship: Ukraine Wins Silver and Bronze in Cairo

Українські каратисти завоювали срібло та бронзу на чемпіонаті світу в Каїрі.

The World Karate Championship has concluded in the capital of Egypt. The tournament was held entirely in an individual format for the first time, with 384 athletes from 88 countries competing at the Cairo International Stadium. The Ukrainian team was represented by nine karateka in kumite.

Our top athletes, such as Yulia Palashevska, Anzhelika Terliuga, Oleksandra Sholohova, and others, participated in the tournament.

"The World Championship is always very important for us, but unfortunately this time we did not manage to win gold. However, we are very grateful for the silver and bronze," emphasized a representative of the Ukrainian team.

The medals won by the Ukrainian team: silver by Andriy Zaplitny and bronze by Anzhelika Terliuga. Zaplitny lost in the finals to an Egyptian athlete, while Terliuga achieved victory in the bronze match. In the overall medal standings, Ukraine finished in sixth place.

New Challenges and the Future

The Ukrainian team faces new challenges. The team is young and ambitious, ready for new achievements. The next stage is the World Championship 2027 in Paris, where our athletes will gather again to showcase their skills and abilities.

Ukrainian karateka demonstrated a worthy result at the World Championship, winning silver and bronze. This is a significant achievement for our country, indicating the high level of sports training of Ukrainian athletes.
