Ukrainian Athletics Championships

According to Федерація Легкої Атлетики: The Ukrainian National Road Running Championships for adults, youth, and juniors commenced in Kyiv on April 4. Organized by Run Ukraine, the event is integrated into the Kyiv Indomitability Half Marathon and serves as a qualifying race for the World Championships scheduled for September 19-20 in Copenhagen, Denmark. This championship is a key fixture in the national athletics calendar, offering a crucial pathway for athletes to compete internationally.

Day One Results

The opening day of the Championships produced notable results in the 1-mile and 5000-meter events.

  • 1-Mile Distance:
    • 1st place: Anzhelika Bondar - 4:58 min
    • 2nd place: Tetiana Chornovol - 5:00 min
    • 3rd place: Diana Tkachenko (Kyrychuk) - 5:44 min
  • 5000-Meter Distance:
    • 1st place: Viktoriia Shkurko - 15:55 min
    • 2nd place: Sofiia Gordiichuk - 17:39 min
    • 3rd place: Kateryna Komar - 17:47 min

In the men's 1-mile race, Dmytro Nikolaichuk secured first place with a time of 4:21 min. Andrii Krakowetskyi took second (4:26 min), and Oleksandr Honskyi finished third (4:27 min).

For the men's 5000 meters, Andrii Atamaniuk claimed victory with a result of 14:01 min. Vadym Lonskyi placed second (14:20 min), and Artem Rybka came in third (14:37 min).

The competition will continue on April 5 with the half-marathon events.

The Ukrainian Road Running Championships represent a significant milestone for athletes, providing a platform to showcase talent and earn qualification for the World Championships.
