Transportation Collapse in Kyiv at 10 AM due to Air Alarm on August 27

On August 27 in Kyiv, prolonged air alarms caused serious disruptions in public transport operations. The metro operated in shelter mode during the danger, ground transportation was overloaded, and passengers faced train delays. This was reported by Znaj.ua.

Throughout Thursday, air alarms were declared 12 times in the capital, and in total, they lasted for over 10 hours. As a result, all 46 underground metro stations were used as shelters during the alerts, and regular transport connections between city districts were disrupted.

Due to Alarms, Residents Sought Alternatives to the Metro

The greatest burden fell on buses and trolleybuses, particularly on routes between the right and left banks. Some passengers tried to reach their desired areas on foot or asked drivers of private cars for a ride.

The situation was complicated by movement restrictions on the Southern Bridge towards the left bank. Ground public transport had to change routes, causing travel across the Dnipro to take significantly longer.

Disruptions also affected Kyiv City Express. During the air danger, the city's commuter train movement was halted and had to be restored after the alert.

Hundreds of Passengers Gathered at the Kyiv Train Station

A difficult situation arose near the Central Railway Station. In the evening, hundreds of passengers with luggage were waiting for the opportunity to enter the building and board their trains.

In total, due to the consequences of Russian attacks in Ukraine, 65 passenger trains fell behind schedule. Delays for certain routes reached 5, 9, and even 17 hours. These issues could affect a significant portion of the 77,000 passengers who purchased tickets for intercity and international routes.

Commuter trains on several routes, including Irpin and Fastiv, were also not running. Passengers had to wait for the resumption of service or seek alternative transport.

Transport issues arose as a result of the security situation following a massive Russian attack on Ukraine on the night of August 27. Damage was recorded in several districts of Kyiv. The city authorities urged residents not to ignore air alarms and to stay in shelters during danger.

It is worth noting that due to damage to the educational institution as a result of the attack on Kyiv on August 27, the students of the gymnasium will be able to start the school year at neighboring educational institutions.
