Ukrainian karatekas in the quarter-finals of the World Championship in Cairo: who is fighting for medals
In the capital of Egypt, Cairo, the World Karate Championship is currently taking place. Nine Ukrainian athletes – five women and four men – are competing in the tournament.
On the first day of the competition, Anzhelika Terliuga and Andriy Zaplitny passed the group stage and reached the quarter-finals in the kumite category. At the same time, Yuliya Palashevska took first place in her group but lost in the 1/8 finals. Nikita Filipov, despite showing a good performance, could not advance to the next stage.
On the second day of the competition, Oleksandr Sholohov and Daria Bulai also reached the quarter-finals, defeating their opponents in the 1/8 finals. However, the team captain Valerii Chobotar was unlucky, and Rizvan Talibov and Elina Selyamenieva could not get past the group stage.
Thus, Anzhelika Terliuga, Oleksandr Sholohov, Daria Bulai, and Andriy Zaplitny will compete in the quarter-finals. The decisive matches will take place on Saturday, November 29!
