Cabbage, Onion and Carrot Prices in August: Where is it Cheaper to Buy

According to hvylya.net: Due to the unstable economic situation, Ukrainians are increasingly comparing prices at different points of sale to maximize their expenses on vegetables for their daily table.

According to data from the Minfin portal, Ukrainians were shown how much cabbage, onion, and carrot cost in supermarkets and markets in August.

Cabbage: significant difference between varieties

Young cabbage costs an average of 18.62 UAH/kg in supermarkets. White cabbage is a bit more expensive - 19.16 UAH/kg, but at Novus and Auchan it can be found for 16.70-16.79 UAH, while at Megamarket it is already 24 UAH/kg.

Onion: wide price range

White onion costs an average of 59.99 UAH/kg, sand onion - 16.90 UAH/kg. Young onion will cost about 14.13 UAH/kg, and blue onion - 30 UAH/kg at Auchan.

Carrot: stable prices

Regular carrot costs an average of 18.80 UAH/kg, while young carrot is 12.89 UAH/kg at Novus.

Market Prices

In Kyiv, vegetables can be purchased at the following prices:

• Young Ukrainian potatoes - 13-16 UAH/kg
• Onion - 10-12 UAH/kg
• Young carrot - 11-13 UAH/kg
