According to the Ministry of Finance, at the beginning of September, potato prices averaged 15.83 UAH per kilogram, which is 5% lower than in August. The overall price drop since the beginning of July is approximately 26%. Potato prices will remain low until mid-October, after which they may begin to rise.

In Ukraine, there is a decrease in potato prices. From now on, it costs between 15 and 18 hryvnias per kilogram. These prices will remain unchanged until approximately mid-October, while the active harvest continues. After that, they will start to rise with the arrival of the cold weather.

Minimum potato prices in supermarkets

According to market research, as of September 11, the minimum prices for potatoes in major Ukrainian supermarkets are as follows:

  • Fora and Metro - from 13.90 UAH/kg
  • Varus - from 14.50 UAH/kg
  • Auchan and Silpo - from 14.70 UAH/kg
  • ATB - from 14.85 UAH/kg
  • Novus - from 14.99 UAH/kg
  • MegaMarket - from 18.90 UAH/kg

According to the analyst of the trade network 'ANTS' Ilya Neskhodovsky, price stability for products is expected in September, without sharp changes. Even over the year, prices for the borscht set have only increased by 200 hryvnias, which is important information for consumers during the vegetable and fruit season.
