Latest Fuel Price Update for Ukraine

According to Главком: Ukrainian fuel station networks have updated their prices as of April 5, 2026. The average cost of A-95 gasoline is now 72.87 UAH per liter, while the average price for diesel fuel has reached 88.43 UAH per liter. It is noted that the National Fuel Cashback Program, which launched on March 20, will continue until May 1. This program offers:

  • 15% cashback on diesel;
  • 10% on gasoline;
  • 5% on autogas;

with a maximum cashback amount of 1,000 UAH per person per month.

Factors Driving the Fuel Price Increase

The price of diesel fuel in Ukraine has risen by 33.9%. The most significant price increases are observed at networks like OKKO, WOG, and SOCAR, while the cheapest fuel is offered by Ukrnafta and BRSM-Nafta. In March, diesel supply volumes remained at 2025 levels, indicating no current shortage.

Serhiy Kuyun: 'There is no diesel fuel shortage, and none is anticipated.'

The primary objective factor influencing the price increase is the shutdown of Ukraine's largest oil refinery, which has resulted in over 85% of petroleum products becoming dependent on imports. Pavlo Kyrylenko explains:

Pavlo Kyrylenko: 'The main objective factor that has influenced the price increase is that since last year, specifically after the shutdown of the largest and essentially the only oil refinery in Ukraine, almost all light petroleum products, in percentage terms 85%+, depend on the import of oil products.'

Additional factors contributing to the rise in fuel prices include:

  • an increase in demand volumes;
  • a reduction in supply volumes and reserves;
  • a rise in the actual cost of purchasing petroleum products;
  • a forecast for further increases in the cost of petroleum products;
  • an increase in the cost of logistics services.

This complicates the comparison of fuel storage conditions and volumes within Ukraine.

The rising fuel prices reflect a complex situation in Ukraine's petroleum products market, particularly due to the halted refinery and import dependency. The cashback program may offer some support to consumers; however, given the overall trends, issues with fuel availability and cost are likely to persist. These price pressures are a significant concern for household budgets in a challenging economic environment. In the context of future economic challenges, it remains important to monitor market changes and their impact on the population's purchasing power.
