Restoration of the State Register of Voters in Ukraine

According to ХВИЛЯ: The Central Election Commission has resumed the operation of the State Register of Voters, which is an important step towards conducting elections in Ukraine. This is the first restoration of the register since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, opening new opportunities for interaction between the CEC and citizens as well as government bodies regarding the actualization of the register data.

Significance of updating the register of voters

Updating the voter register is a fundamental condition for conducting elections, especially in a wartime context that has significantly affected demographic indicators. The head of the 'Servant of the People' faction in the Verkhovna Rada, David Arakhamia, noted:

'This practically opens the way for restoring interaction between the CEC and citizens, government bodies in the matter of working with the register.' David Arakhamia

He also emphasized that 'there is plenty of work in this direction' and had previously promised to inform the public about the preparation for the possible conduct of elections under martial law.

The restoration of the State Register of Voters is an important step towards ensuring democratic processes in Ukraine, especially in the context of the current challenges faced by the country. Actualizing the register data will allow for a more accurate representation of voters, which is critically important for organizing elections in a changed demographic situation.

The successful implementation of this process may become the basis for stability and the restoration of the normal functioning of state institutions during the war.
