Deezer’s New Tool Identifies AI-Generated Music

According to НВ — Техно: Deezer has introduced a new service designed to spot music created by artificial intelligence across multiple streaming platforms. This innovative tool supports 27 languages and works with 20 major streaming services, allowing users to import their playlists and check for AI-generated tracks.

CEO Alexis Lanternier commented:

“We decided to give all users the ability to check their playlists for synthetic music, no matter which platform they use.” - Alexis Lanternier.

According to company data, 44% of new music uploaded to Deezer is now created with AI. The platform receives nearly 75,000 such tracks daily, amounting to over two million AI-generated songs each month. However, the share of listens for AI tracks ranges from just 1% to 3% of total streams. Deezer identifies about 85% of these AI-track plays as fraudulent and does not monetize them.

Regulating AI-Generated Music Content

Deezer also removes AI tracks from its recommendations and excludes them from editorial playlists. Additionally, the company is offering its AI detection technology to other platforms. Notably, the music platform Bandcamp had already banned AI-generated music before 2026. Deezer’s new service thus marks a significant step in regulating AI-produced music content within the modern industry.

The launch of Deezer’s tool highlights the growing role of artificial intelligence in the music industry and the need to oversee content created by these technologies. While the listening share of AI tracks remains small, it is crucial for users to have the ability to distinguish synthetic music from traditional recordings. This development may also influence other platforms’ future decisions regarding the use and monetization of AI-generated music.

As the conversation around AI in music continues to evolve, Spotify has also introduced a tool aimed at enhancing user-generated content through cover songs and remixes. This development reflects a broader trend in the industry where platforms are not only recognizing the impact of AI but are also actively seeking ways to integrate it into their services responsibly.
