Demolition of the Fifth Workshop of the 'Bolshevik' Factory

According to Главком: The demolition of the fifth workshop of the 'Bolshevik' factory on Shuliavka has begun in order to complete the reconstruction of the transport junction. This workshop, located near the Shuliavka junction, became an obstacle for further work. In 2023, the Kyiv City Council purchased the building for 113 million UAH, however, the initial plans to spend 91 million UAH on demolition were canceled due to the cancellation of the tender. The cost of demolishing workshop No. 5 according to a new tender announced in December 2025 exceeds 126 million UAH.

Plans and Expenses for Reconstruction

The completion of the demolition of the workshop is planned within five months after the transfer of the construction site. Overall, the total costs for the liquidation of the object amount to almost 250 million UAH. The reconstruction of the junction is taking place at the intersection of Peremohy Avenue and Hetmana Street, and the reconstruction project was carried out by 'Autostrada' Engineering Company LLC. The expert report on the project was issued by 'NDIproyektrekonstruktsiya' state enterprise.

The fifth workshop of the 'Bolshevik' factory has a rich historical context. The factory, which was founded in 1882, was nationalized by the Soviet authorities in 1922. In 2021, the controlling stake (100%) of the factory was acquired by 'General Commerce', and the workshop was sold at auction for 1.42 billion UAH.

“The delay in the issue of demolishing the abandoned workshop is dragging out the entire reconstruction process.” – Vitaliy Klitschko, Mayor of Kyiv
