The number of lawyers in Ukraine has decreased to 52,960
According to glavcom.ua: According to 'Glavkom', as of the end of October, there are 52,960 lawyers working in Ukraine, which is fewer than in the summer of this year when there were 53,361 lawyers. During the autumn, the number of lawyers decreased by 401, but the total number of specialists increased by 8% compared to the previous period.
Among the lawyers in the register, 59% are men. The largest number of professionals is in Kyiv region - 9,258 people, which is 18% of the total. In the capital, there are 5,550 registered lawyers, accounting for 11%. There are also many specialists in Odesa and Dnipropetrovsk regions, with 4,016 and 4,015 respectively.
During the full-scale war, lawyers in Ukraine continue to work under increased risk
On December 19, Ukraine celebrates Advocate's Day, a holiday dedicated to defenders who provide legal assistance to citizens in courts. In wartime, lawyers provide legal assistance, defend military personnel, internally displaced persons, and other victims of aggression from Russia.
From all the above, it follows that the number of lawyers in Ukraine has slightly decreased, but this profession remains significant, especially during wartime, when their role in providing legal assistance becomes particularly important.
