Strategic Investigations Department Marks 7 Years with 124 Criminal Networks Disrupted in Nine Months

According to МВС: Ukraine’s Minister of Internal Affairs, Ivan Vyhivskyi, along with the Acting Head of the National Police, Maksym Tsutskiridze, recently met with members of the Strategic Investigations Department as it celebrates its seventh anniversary. In the first nine months of 2026 alone, the department dismantled 124 criminal groups, including 28 organized crime syndicates, identifying 555 individuals involved in illegal activities.

The Critical Role of the Department’s Work

The Strategic Investigations Department focuses on several key areas:

• Uncovering organized crime networks;
• Combating the embezzlement of public funds;
• Fighting fraud and abuses across various sectors;
• Detecting and halting serious and particularly grave offenses.

Minister Vyhivskyi emphasized the department’s vital contributions amid the ongoing full-scale war, stating:

“Identifying organized crime groups, preventing the theft of state resources, tackling fraud and abuse across sectors, and stopping serious and especially severe crimes are part of the daily mission of the Strategic Investigations Department of Ukraine’s National Police.”

He also expressed his gratitude for the team’s professionalism and tangible achievements, which reinforce the nation’s security, declaring:

“I thank the department’s personnel for their expertise and concrete results that strengthen our country’s safety.”
