Audit of Power Outage Schedules in Ukraine

According to Главком: In response to numerous consumer complaints, Ukraine's State Energy Supervision Inspectorate (Derzhenergonahliad) will conduct unscheduled audits of power outage schedules in five regions. The regulator aims to ensure that all consumers face equal conditions under the electricity supply restrictions. This action highlights ongoing challenges in managing the country's strained power grid.

Inspectors will verify the accuracy of the hourly power cut schedules in the following regions:

  • Zhytomyr
  • Kirovohrad
  • Mykolaiv
  • Khmelnytskyi
  • Cherkasy

Based on the audit findings, the regulator will issue recommendations and directives to distribution system operators. Any violations discovered must be corrected to bring the schedules into compliance with legal requirements.

Ensuring Energy Security

Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko has stated that the Russian Federation will continue to target Ukraine's energy infrastructure even after winter. Consequently, the Cabinet of Ministers, alongside regional state administration heads and energy company representatives, is actively preparing the energy system for the next heating season. The government plans to strengthen oversight of power outages.

Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal has instructed Derzhenergonahliad to carry out these inspections to improve the situation in the energy sector. Additionally, the Cabinet is implementing a financial support mechanism for citizens forced to relocate due to emergencies. This program provides interest-free one-time loans and payments of up to 15,000 hryvnias to individual entrepreneurs.

Since February 2nd, businesses have been able to access a government energy support package, including zero-interest loans for energy equipment. The government is also expanding programs to support energy autonomy for apartment buildings and private homes, aiming to increase the resilience of the energy system against potential threats.

The regulator's actions reflect growing concern over adherence to outage schedules, which is particularly critical during an energy crisis exacerbated by external attacks. Ensuring stable electricity supply is vital for sustaining the population and the national economy, especially in preparation for the next winter.

Simultaneously, the financial support programs for citizens and businesses may help mitigate the negative impacts of energy restrictions. This demonstrates the government's comprehensive approach to addressing energy challenges and supporting the population under difficult conditions.
