Safety of Children’s Toys: A Call from the State Consumer Service

The State Consumer Service urges Ukrainians to choose children’s toys carefully due to health risks for children, including toxic poisoning and oncological diseases. In 2025, inspectors identified 55 types of dangerous products, of which 28 were children’s toys. As a result of inspections, over 24,000 toys that did not meet safety requirements were removed from circulation.

Dangerous Toys and Their Consequences

The list of dangerous toys included items with excessive levels of lead and cadmium, which pose a serious threat to children's health. Laboratory studies confirmed the risks associated with allergic reactions, poisonings, and chronic toxic effects, as reported by the State Consumer Service.

Experts, including Andrii Kreitor, emphasized the importance of ensuring the safety and quality of children’s gifts. They work daily to ensure that parents can be confident in the safety of the toys chosen for their children. Some of the dangerous products included in the list are:

  • soft toy duck with duckling of unknown origin;
  • race track with lighting effects of Chinese manufacture.

The State Consumer Service calls on parents to be cautious when choosing toys for children, as this can significantly impact their health.

This information highlights the importance of product quality control, especially when it comes to products intended for children.

Dangerous toys can lead to serious health consequences, so parents should be particularly vigilant during purchases. It is also important for manufacturers to adhere to safety standards to prevent dangerous products from entering the market.
