Prometheus and Ukraine’s Child Welfare Service Launch Free Course on Protecting Children’s Rights – Registration Opens September 23

Free Online Course: "Child Rights Protection System in Ukraine"

According to Міністерство соц. політики: The State Service of Ukraine for Children’s Affairs, in partnership with Prometheus, is offering a complimentary online course titled "Child Rights Protection System in Ukraine." The course will begin on October 1, with registration starting September 23. Developed under the guidance of Ukraine’s Ministry of Social Policy, Family, and Unity and the State Service for Children’s Affairs, this program aims to deepen the expertise of professionals on both national and international frameworks for safeguarding children’s rights.

This initiative receives support from the Coordination Center for Family-Based Care and UNICEF. Funding is provided by the UK Government as part of the SPIRIT project (Social Protection for Inclusion, Resilience, Innovation, and Transformation). The course is tailored for:

• Child welfare service employees;
• Guardianship and custodial authorities;
• Social service centers;
• Local government specialists;
• Executive authorities;
• Non-governmental organizations.

The curriculum is delivered by a multidisciplinary team of leading Ukrainian experts and practitioners in child rights. Participants will gain comprehensive knowledge of Ukrainian child protection laws and learn how to apply international standards in their daily work. The course also focuses on enhancing skills related to assessing situations through the lens of the child’s best interests, understanding child development, and addressing psychological needs.

Enrollees will be trained to facilitate children’s involvement in decisions affecting them and to interpret each child’s circumstances within broader legal and social frameworks. Additionally, they will develop critical thinking skills to evaluate their own decisions critically, avoid procedural formalities, and master effective interagency collaboration methods.
