Dmytro’s Military Journey

According to МВС: Joining the armed forces in 2023, Dmytro became a soldier with the NPU battalion known as 'Lut'. His deployment took him to some of the most intense combat zones in Donetsk, where he engaged in fierce fighting. During one operation, a mine exploded just three meters from his unit, highlighting the extreme dangers he faced while carrying out his duties.

Endurance and Courage Under Fire

Throughout the conflict, Dmytro suffered injuries from mine blasts, shrapnel wounds, and concussions. Despite these serious wounds, he remains active in military service.

“I spotted an enemy only 20 meters away holding a grenade with its pin pulled. Without hesitation, I shot him in the head. Seconds later, the grenade detonated in his hands,” Dmytro recalls one of the most critical moments of his service.

This account is part of the book "The Fourth Year of Full-Scale War: Stories of Heroes from the Ministry of Internal Affairs", a project developed by the Communication Department of Ukraine’s Ministry of Internal Affairs together with its communication units. The book is published by the state enterprise 'INFOTECH'. Stories like Dmytro’s showcase the bravery and commitment of servicemen facing modern warfare’s harsh realities.

Dmytro’s experience exemplifies the heroism and dedication of Ukrainian soldiers who risk their lives daily to defend their country. Furthermore, documenting these firsthand testimonies is vital for preserving national memory and deepening understanding of the ongoing challenges Ukraine confronts amid war.
