Marki, Kobylka, and Rumia topped the ranking of Polish cities by migration balance per thousand residents. Warsaw ranked 33rd. Unlike studies on the best cities to live in, this ranking assessed the registrations of relocations. This is reported by Business Insider Polska.

The authors analyzed data from over 300 urban communities for the years 2021–2025. The basis was a weighted migration balance indicator per 1000 residents, which is the difference between the number of registered arrivals and departures adjusted for the population size.

Ranking of Polish cities by migration: who made it to the top ten

The top spots were mostly taken by smaller cities. The leading ten included:

  1. Marki, Mazovian Voivodeship.

  2. Kobylka, Mazovian Voivodeship.

  3. Rumia, Pomeranian Voivodeship.

  4. Imielin, Silesian Voivodeship.

  5. Ożarów, Silesian Voivodeship.

  6. Sułkowice, Mazovian Voivodeship.

  7. Konstantynów Łódzki, Łódź Voivodeship.

  8. Józefów, Mazovian Voivodeship.

  9. Kołobrzeg, West Pomeranian Voivodeship.

  10. Mikołów, Silesian Voivodeship.

Among large cities, Kraków ranked 11th, Rzeszów 19th, and Gdańsk 21st. The capital remained outside the top thirty, although this does not mean that fewer people are moving there in absolute numbers.

For choosing a place to live, costs are also important, which this ranking does not directly assess. In particular, rental prices in Poland vary depending on the city and the location of the property.

Why cities near Warsaw and the Tri-City are leading

Marki and Kobylka are located near Warsaw. Such proximity allows residents to benefit from the capital's labor market and services while living outside the megacity. The authors of the ranking cite the combination of access to a large city with a calmer environment as one of the possible factors of attractiveness.

Rumia belongs to the economic space of the Tri-City and has access to jobs in Gdynia and Gdańsk. Among its advantages, the publication notes the closeness to the sea, natural areas, and more affordable real estate compared to neighboring large cities.

At the same time, the ranking is not a survey of the desire to move and does not define a universally best city. Before relocating, it is advisable to compare housing, transport, and job opportunities in Polish cities separately.
