The first low-floor trams from Zurich have arrived in Vinnytsia

Vinnytsia has received the first two Tram 2000 trams from a new batch being delivered by Zurich, Switzerland. The cars already have a factory low-floor section, but before being put into service, they will be checked and adapted to local accessibility requirements. This was reported by the mayor of the city, Serhiy Morgunov.

Tram 2000 in Vinnytsia: what will be done before they go into service

The received cars are already at the Vinnytsia transport company. Specialists are conducting technical inspections, determining necessary works, and preparing the trams for operation in the urban network.

Special attention will be paid to the interior. Although Tram 2000 is already accessible for passengers with mobility issues, the city plans to bring them up to its own standards. Each tram will have two specially equipped spaces for such passengers.

The same principle is already being applied during the modernization of trams by the Vinnytsia transport company. In 2025, the depot began installing low-floor sections in Tram 2000 cars that had previously arrived from Switzerland.

Zurich tram: how many cars will Vinnytsia receive

As part of the new phase of the "Zurich tram" project, Switzerland will deliver 23 low-floor Tram 2000 to Vinnytsia. Along with the trams, the city will receive spare parts and equipment for their maintenance.

An additional agreement to transfer the new batch was signed at the beginning of July. The first two trams arrived in the summer, as planned by the city authorities. The dates for their entry into service have not yet been announced, as they need to undergo technical preparation.

Vinnytsia has been cooperating with Zurich for over 20 years. During this time, Swiss partners have delivered 116 Mirage and Karpfen trams, as well as 67 Tram 2000. According to the city council, the share of accessible public transport in Vinnytsia has already reached 70%.

The new trams are expected to replenish the tram fleet without the need to purchase rolling stock using city budget funds. For passengers, this means a gradual increase in the number of accessible trams on routes following their preparation.

It is worth noting that 50 people in Vinnytsia participated in the first eco-action on waste sorting.
