12 buses from Poland have already been brought to Vinnytsia: when they will be put on routes
12 out of 15 buses that the Polish fund Sikorki na Ukrainie purchased for the city have been delivered to Vinnytsia. The story of the transfer of transport began with a political dispute over the buses. Now the vehicles are undergoing technical maintenance and certification, and the first of them may enter the routes as early as November.
The director of the transport and urban mobility department of the Vinnytsia City Council, Andrii Sorokin, spoke about the condition of the buses and plans for their use. This is reported by the publication «20 minutes» .
Buses in Vinnytsia: when they will go on routes in November 2026
Before the launch, the buses must pass technical maintenance and certification. Information systems and validators will also be installed in the cabins. The vehicles were released in 2009, and some have a mileage exceeding a million kilometers. They have not undergone major repairs but remain operational.
«Our specialists are carrying out all necessary work to release them onto the lines. They will gradually appear on the routes,» Andrii Sorokin said.
Some of the buses will operate on urban routes, while others will remain in reserve. They will be able to replace trams and trolleybuses during power supply disruptions. In Vinnytsia, buses have already been prepared for urban routes: transport was gradually put into operation after technical checks.
The issue of repainting the vehicles in the usual yellow-green color for Vinnytsia is not currently being discussed.
How the buses from Kielce ended up in Vinnytsia
Initially, the sister city Kielce planned to transfer 15 buses that they were going to decommission to Vinnytsia for free. However, the transfer became a subject of political dispute. After that, the city mayor Serhiy Morgunov withdrew the request to prevent the situation from affecting relations between the cities.
The Polish fund Sikorki na Ukrainie announced a fundraising campaign to purchase the transport. The collected funds were enough to buy buses for Vinnytsia. Earlier, Polish activists raised over 500 thousand zlotys for this initiative.
As of October 13, 12 out of 15 vehicles have been delivered to the city. They are being prepared for service, and the buses will gradually appear on the routes.
