Fall of the US Dollar at the End of 2025

According to ХВИЛЯ: The US dollar experienced a significant decline at the end of 2025, dropping by 8.2% over the year, which is the worst result since 2017. According to the Bloomberg Dollar Spot Index, the American currency fell by 0.3% by the end of the year. This annual decrease confirms negative trends in the currency market.

Dynamics of Other Currencies

At the same time, other currencies are showing the opposite dynamics:

  • The Canadian dollar reached a maximum since August 2025;
  • The Australian dollar reached a three-month peak;
  • The Swedish krona returned to levels observed in February 2022.

The mood of traders regarding the dollar remains the most 'bearish' in the last three months, indicating pessimistic sentiments among market participants.

Experts note that the forecast for the US dollar remains confidently negative. As Ipek Ozkardeskaya noted,

“optimistic forecasts for the dollar are a rarity now.”

This indicates that the situation with the American currency may remain challenging in the near future.

The situation in the currency market reflects significant changes in the global economy, which may affect international trade and investments. The decline of the dollar could lead to a change in the competitiveness of products from the US, which in turn may impact the country's economic growth. It is essential to monitor further trends, as they could have both positive and negative consequences for the global economy.
