Unemployment benefits in Poland will be increased from June 2026

Starting June 1, 2026, unemployment benefits in Poland will increase for all registered individuals. The new rates have been approved by the Ministry of Family, Labor, and Social Policy, and will be in effect for the next year. inPoland reports this.

Unemployment benefits in Poland: new payment amounts

The basic benefit depends on work experience. For individuals with work experience of 5 to 20 years, the following amounts are set:

• 1783.90 PLN gross per month — for the first 90 days;

• 1400.90 PLN gross — after this period.

In fact, the net payments will amount to approximately:

• about 1620 PLN at the start;

• about 1270 PLN in the following months.

The amount of assistance is adjusted based on experience:

• more than 20 years — 120% of the basic rate;

• less than 5 years — 80% of the basic rate.

Conditions for receiving assistance: who is eligible

To receive payments, one must meet certain criteria and register at an employment center.

Main requirements:

• at least 365 days of official work in the last 18 months;

• payment of contributions to the Labor Fund;

• status of a registered unemployed person.

The standard payment period is 180 days. However, in regions with high unemployment rates or for certain categories of citizens, this period may be extended up to one year.

The increase in benefits is intended to partly compensate for the rising cost of living and support people during their job search.

It should be noted that in Poland, some Ukrainians under temporary protection have lost automatic access to free medical care after changes in legislation. The new rules have already sparked a wave of criticism and calls to review the decision.
