In Kyiv, transport benefits are in effect: who is entitled to free transport in 2025
In Kyiv, transport benefits continue to apply for certain categories of residents. In 2025, free travel on the metro, trams, trolleybuses, and buses is available with the 'Kyiv Card'. According to News Live, the right to such a benefit is granted to pensioners by age, combatants and those equated to them, as well as victims of the Revolution of Dignity. The list also includes rehabilitated citizens, former minor prisoners of concentration camps and ghettos, persons with disabilities, and those caring for persons with first-group disabilities, children with disabilities, or elderly people over 80 years old. Citizens affected by the Chernobyl disaster (categories 1 and 2), parents of military personnel who died or went missing, as well as family members of deceased war veterans and volunteers, can also use transport for free. Benefits extend to veterans of military service, the National Police, the tax police, the State Emergency Service, and other services. Special rights to free travel are granted to children from large families, orphans, and children deprived of parental care, as well as parents of large families. To obtain a 'Kyiv Card', one must apply to any branch of Oschadbank. Applicants must provide a passport or another ID, identification code, a document confirming the right to the benefit, and a color photo 3×4 (if the photo in the passport is of poor quality). The card can be activated directly at the branch by setting your own PIN code. Transport benefits in Kyiv are an important initiative to alleviate the financial burden on certain categories of residents of the city. The purpose of this program is to improve the quality of life and provide support to those who need it most.
