Explosions in Shatura: Drones Damaged the Power Station

On the night of November 22-23, explosions occurred in the Moscow region. The Shatura thermal power station in the city of Shatura came under attack by drones, resulting in a fire at the facility. Local sources published relevant footage from the scene.

According to preliminary reports, several drones attacked the energy infrastructure, causing visible flames and smoke. Currently, Russian emergency services are working at the scene.

Russian officials traditionally claim that 'drones were shot down', but the actual consequences suggest otherwise – the energy facility sustained damage.

Mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobyanin previously reported that the air defense shot down a drone heading towards Moscow, and relevant services are already working at the crash site.

The Shatura thermal power station is one of the oldest in Russia, supplying electricity to parts of the Moscow region. So far, Russian authorities have not provided details regarding the extent of the damage or possible casualties.

It is also worth noting that on the night of November 6, strike drones attacked a thermal power station in the city of Volgorechensk, Kostroma region.

After drone attacks on power stations in various parts of Russia, strengthening security at important energy facilities becomes urgent. Monitoring potential threats and preventive actions can save from such events in the future.
