In the night before August 26, a Russian drone targeted a car carrying DTEK mine workers in Dnipropetrovsk region, killing two miners. Among the dead was 52-year-old Vitalii Semenov, who worked as an auxiliary mine worker. He leaves behind his father, wife, and two children. The second victim, 48-year-old Illia Rusanenko, was an underground electrician. Rusanenko is survived by his mother, wife, and two children.

Situation in Kherson

Separately in Kherson, as emergency crews worked to clear up after a Russian attack, the occupiers carried out a second strike against the rescuers. An FPV drone hit the water tank of a fire engine, wounding the driver. The truck was damaged, and the injured driver was taken to a medical facility.

DTEK commented on the tragedy: "A terrible tragedy: the enemy has taken the lives of two of our fellow miners who were heading home after their shift." – DTEK

The Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Kherson Oblast also voiced concern, stressing: "This is further proof of how dangerous the work of rescuers in the Kherson region is. Despite the constant threat of repeated strikes, they continue to carry out their duty."
