Evacuation of Vitaliy Tsarytsyn

According to ДСНС: The State Emergency Service of Ukraine (DSNS) successfully transferred severely injured sapper Vitaliy Tsarytsyn from the Sumy region to Lviv to receive prosthetic treatment and rehabilitation following injuries sustained during explosive ordnance disposal. As a sapper in the DSNS, Vitaliy suffered critical wounds after an explosive device detonated, resulting in the loss of his right eye, left hand, and an open fracture to his leg.

Initial emergency medical care was administered on-site by the DSNS medical team stationed with the sapper unit. Vitaliy was then stabilized at a hospital in Sumy before being transported by ground ambulance to Kyiv. In Kyiv, he was handed over to the DSNS aviation unit, which airlifted him by helicopter to Lviv for advanced treatment.

Ongoing Treatment and Support

Currently, Vitaliy is receiving comprehensive medical care, surgeries, and rehabilitation at the Superhumans center in Lviv. The DSNS is providing full support throughout his recovery journey until he is able to return home. His wife, Yevheniya, and daughter, Eva, are also receiving assistance during this challenging period.

Natalia Yashan, a DSNS spokesperson, explained: 'Two teams were involved in the operation. The ground team collaborated with the emergency medical services in Sumy. The second team, the DSNS aviation unit, prepared the helicopter for the aeromedical evacuation.'

This evacuation highlights the coordination and efficiency of Ukrainian rescue services during emergencies. Prompt medical intervention combined with ongoing rehabilitation is vital, especially for military personnel and civilians injured amid the conflict. Supporting the families of the wounded, like Vitaliy’s, underscores the social responsibility and care extended to those affected by the war.

The ongoing support for injured service members is crucial during these challenging times. In a related effort, Rivne rescuers have made significant contributions by donating over 10 liters of blood to assist injured Ukrainian soldiers. This act of solidarity not only highlights the commitment of emergency responders but also emphasizes the importance of community involvement in supporting those affected by the conflict.
